Classes are approximately every other Saturday with an occasional Sunday - see the Class Schedule calendar for an exact listing of when classes are being held.  Class schedules are subject to change.  Evening classes are also available - please call for details.  Please check the DPS website for eligibility requirements.

About the Classes

Concealed Handgun License Class

Location:  Hewitt Community Center
               208 Chama Drive (next to the Hewitt Police Department) (directions)

Time:  8:00 a.m. (Renewal classes begin at 12:00)

Tips:    Dress comfortably and appropriate to the weather--proficiency training will be conducted at the outdoor range.  The range portion of the class may be rescheduled due to weather conditions, i.e. extreme heat, cold, or rain.

Range is handicapped accessible.

Handguns are available at no charge - you must only provide the ammunition.

 

Basic Firearms Instruction

Location: Your house or place of business

Information: A basic, four hour course (minimum) on the proper usage of firearms.
